Vodafone Postpaid Wireless Broadband
Postpaid wireless broadband is for those who want or need to be on the Internet for extended periods of time. Perhaps do you do a lot of work with international clients and have to always stay in touch with them. The Vodafone Postpaid Wireless Broadband Kit will allow you not only to always stay connected online, but will also let you carry the World Wide Web with you in your pocket. You’ll hear about the benefits of choosing postpaid over prepaid and a little about pricing and data allowances in this article and by the end of it all, you’ll see why Vodafone is a common choice for those who need to stay connected online with broadband. Otherwise click here to jump straight to the Vodafone website.
Postpaid vs Prepaid
Picture this. You’re online at night. Your eyes are sore from staring at the screen for 2 hours. You’ve waited patiently for your favourite artist’s new album to come out online and you’ve just paid for it. Just as you begin to download, you remember that you can’t. You already went over your limit and are currently out of credit. The money you used to pay for the album would have let you surf the Net for a little longer. You couldn’t have both the album and Internet.
With postpaid, you can. All you have to do is pay a reasonable fee for your data allowance and also a tiny $5 a month for the USB modem on the cheaper plans and you’re free to do what you want, when you want for as long as you want online. On the higher plans the USB modem is free on a 24 month plan!
Benefits and Pricing
In terms of work and occupation, Postpaid is superior to prepaid in the sense that as long as you’ve paid your monthly fee, you can access the Internet without having to worry about how much credit you’ve got left. With prepaid, you might end up paying more if you frequently go over your limit. This is good if you’re someone who is constantly sent documents to examine online which your career depends on, like legal documents you have to read before someone else signs. Don’t keep your boss waiting just because you’re out of credit.
Vodafone Wireless Broadband Plans start from $19.95 a month, plus $5 a month USB modem payment. This gives you 1GB of data for $24.95 total. $10 more will get you an extra 2GB. The maximum you pay per month is $49.95 for 24/7 for 7GB of data.
You don’t have to constantly top up your credit with Vodafone’s Broadband Contract plan. Forget about how much credit you have left and instead focus on just doing what you have to do online.

Benefits of Wireless Broadband

Over the past few weeks I have been running some presentations at various schools around Australia about internet and mobile phone safety for young people - in other words “Cyber Safety”. It has been an interesting and extremely worthwhile experience. But I wanted to write more about my experience with Wireless Broadband - and I have to say that I was really impressed.
I used 3G wireless extensively in Adelaide with really good speeds. I then went to Melbourne for a few days. I stayed at Tullamarine near the airport where the signal strength was very strong and the speeds were consistently good. When I looked at the ridiculous rates charged for Hotel internet use I was glad to have my wireless with me. I could use it when I wanted and needed to without having to worry about exceeding hotel internet time limits.
Whilst waiting for a couple of hours in the Melbourne airport I was able to get on with work and run my business as I needed to, while sitting in a cafe having a drink. It was super convenient.
After a few days back in the office I headed to Canberra where once again the wireless worked fantastically well. I was staying a few kilometres out of town and so the 3G signal was weaker than it had been in Adelaide and Melbourne, but as long as there was a bar of signal, the internet was running pretty well. Once again, I was able to get all the work done that I needed to in the times I wasn’t presenting.
In Melbourne I had a GPS to help me get around the place. But in Canberra I didn’t have a GPS and so my wireless internet became really useful a couple of times. When I wasn’t sure exactly where I was, I pulled over the the side of the road, flipped open my laptop, connected the wireless and checked Google maps. I only needed it a couple of times, but it was a far better option than spending $40 on a street directory or renting a GPS for a couple of days from the car hire company.
So overall I had an excellent experience using wireless in places I don’t usually use it. It was fast for internet surfing and emailing and I experienced very few drops outs. If you need wireless to travel fairly regularly then joining on a monthly plan might be a great way to go. If you use it less regularly or prefer the control of prepaid, then you can also pre pay for your wireless broadband credit. With 3 wireless broadband monthly plans start from just $15 per month for 1GB of data and 3 gives you up to 12 months to use your prepaid wireless credit.

$69 Mobile Broadband Card from 3
Posted by: | Comments
When the USB Wireless Modems were released, the traditional wireless broadband ‘cards’ for PCMCIA slots dropped off the radar. I’m not sure why that happened. Maybe the USB modems seemed more sexy. They were slightly more compact.
But now the wireless card for the PCMCIA or Express Card slots has made a comeback! And they are super cheap too - only $69 from 3 for prepaid wireless broadband.
These cards are compatible with both PC and Mac. They are designed to be plug and play and come with the CD Drivers to use on your Mac.
When it comes to performance, these Mobile Broadband Cards have great specs - especially if you are a more occasional user of wireless. They are HSDPA enabled for High Speed internet access. The maximum available download speed on this card is 7.2Mbps and the maximum upload speed is 384kbps.
They don’t have the latest feature on the E160 USB modem, which is roaming on the Telstra NextG network (at a cost of course!). The E160 is a great deal for $129, but if you’re looking at cutting costs and keeping you money in your own pocket, then the Wireless Card for $69 is a great wireless deal.

Prepaid Wireless Broadband Deal from Vodafone

Vodafone has today released prepaid wireless broadband internet. Given that 3 and Vodafone have announced a merger, we will start updating more Vodafone news. We love the 3 wireless broadband plans and the great value they offer, but we look forward to seeing what exciting things happen with the Vodafone merger. Vodafone has been the last of the major providers to release prepaid wireless, so we’ve been expecting this for a while. Visit the Vodafone Website >>
Vodafone Prepaid Wireless Details
To get started with Vodafone Prepaid Wireless, you need to get a prepaid USB modem. They are only $149 and come with 2GB of data. It’s one of the most generous packages to get you started. The recharge amounts are:
- $19 for 500MB
- $29 for 1GB
- $49 for 3GB
So the recharge is good value when compared with other providers. 3’s prepaid wireless deals offer more data - for example $29 gives you 2GB and $49 gives you 4GB. But Vodafone is comparable to Optus prepaid wireless deals, but Vodafone upfront purchase deal for 2GB and USB modem for only $149 is far better.

Vodafone has expiry of 30 days on their lower recharge amounts, 180 days on the 6GB for $100 recharge and 365 days on the 12GB for $150 recharge.

Cheap Wireless Broadband Deals
Posted by: | CommentsAs it’s the start of a new months, I thought I’d do a quick review of some of the cheap wireless broadband deals available at the moment by 3.
Cheap Wireless Internet Plans
$15 per month for 1GB of Data
This has been one of the best wireless deals for a few months now. But that’s no reason to stop singing the praises of this cheap plan! 1GB of data is only $15 per month. If you don’t have a 3 Mobile, then it’s $5 extra per month to get the USB modem. So if you’re in need of a new mobile plan, you might as well get a mobile from 3 as well and save the $5 per month. For more info see our wireless internet review of this plan.
3 months FREE with $29 per month for 2GB of Data
Three has just introduced this deal, increasing the offer from 2 free months to 3 free months. It’s on a 24 month plan and the USB modem comes for free - including the E160 for broadband roaming on the Telstra NextG network. The same 3 free months offer is also available on the $39 for 6GB of data plan. Visit the 3 Website to get this deal.
Cheap Pre-Paid Wireless Internet
$129 outright for a USB modem
You have the choice of either the MF627 USB modem which comes with 100MB of bonus data upon purchase, or the E160 USB modem which is capable of 3G broadband roaming on the Telstra NextG network. There are no contracts or commitments, just buy your modem outright and then buy prepaid wireless credit as you need it! See more about 3 prepaid wireless on their website.
$279 outright for a USB modem WITH 12GB of data
The best thing about this deal is that the 12GB of data has a 12 month expiry! It’s the only wireless broadband service on the market currently with longer than 6 month credit expiry. If you buy the MF627 modem it comes with another 100MB bonus data. I’d recommend getting the E160 instead with NextG roaming capabilities. Roaming does cost extra though, but is a useful feature to have if you need it. Check out more about 3 prepaid wireless broadband on their site.
